9代にわたってヴォーヌ・ロマネ村に居住し、寿命の長い見事なワインを造ることで知られる有力生産者です。所有する畑は30haを超え、35のアペラシオンにものぼります。

粘土質豊かな石灰質土壌。樹齢25-60年のブドウから造られます。新樽は60-80%使用。若いうちは赤い果実にバニラ、スモーク、スパイスなどのニュアンスを持ち、熟成すると野生的になり、深みのある香りが出ます。骨格のしっかりした明確な個性、長く熟成させても腰が抜けない寿命の長いワインです。

The 2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru is the broadest, most flamboyant wine in the range, bursting with aromas of raspberries, plums, licorice and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, rich and enveloping, it's gourmand and fleshy, with velvety tannins, succulent acids and an ample core of fruit. I suspect that after a decade in the cellar it will seem more classically proportioned than it does today?as has been the case with Mongeard's fine 2003s?though readers who appreciate riper styles of red Burgundy may also find it hard to resist in its youth. It's a blend of Echezeaux du Dessus and Les Treux.
