醸造：手摘みで9月下旬に収穫、旧樽で野生酵母による自然発酵。旧樽にて澱と共に24カ月熟成2020年9月瓶詰。無清澄、無濾過、ボトリング時、少量のSO2を使用。

特別な年のみ生産される“ヴァイサー・シーファー”シリーズの遅摘みバージョンで、“ｓ”はSelectionのS。特別に葡萄を選定している所から由来。少し濁りがある黄金色。熟したメロン、桃、白胡椒、スモーキーなニュアンス。しっかしりとしたボディに洋ナシ、純粋なミネラル、ブルゴーニュのようなフィネスと完璧なバランス。長期熟成も◎

From up vines up to 60 years old and selected from different top sites, the 2018 Welschriesling Weisser Schiefer was vinified in old oak casks for eight months and bottled without fining or filtration. It opens with a pure, bright and complex, slate and quartz-driven bouquet of lemon juice, apples and some flinty notes. Light to medium-bodied yet intense and textured on the palate, with crystalline and nervy acidity and a delicate yeasty texture and very fine tannins, this is a dry, clear and textural Welschriesling with a rather classic nature rather than one born in the heat of 2018. This is an excellent, authentic terroir white from the slate-dominated southern part of the Burgenland. I'd drink it rather young, but I am sure the wine can be cellared for decades. 11.5% alcohol. Tasted in April 2021.
