サン・ジョゼフのアペラシオン発祥の地で、花崗岩質土壌の痩せた畑に植えられた古樹マルサンヌで醸されるワインが「サン・ジョゼフ・レ・グラニ・ブラン」です。非常に調和がとれバランス感に長けたワインで、熟成と共にスパイスの繊細な香りがハチミツの印象に変わっていきます。通常で30〜60年、ヴィンテージによっては50〜75年ものあいだ熟成可能という驚異的な作品です。

The 2003 St.-Joseph Les Granits blanc (327 cases) tastes like 10-W-40 orange oil. Extremely full-bodied, alcoholic, potent, thick, and unctuous, it is nearly too rich to be believed. In keeping with Chapoutier’s philosophy that nothing can be touched or altered, this is an extraordinary expression of the granite terroir of St.-Joseph as well as the exotic, immortal concentration levels of this unusual vintage. This wine should drink well young, but its power and richness suggest it will age far better than expected given its low acidity.
