Producer note: Christophe Perrot-Minot commented that the 'summer of 2008 was very cool and difficult as there was a lot of rain and not much sunshine. However, toward the middle of September good weather, along with the north wind, arrived and not only saved the harvest but maturities exploded. We carefully controlled yields and thus our sugars really shot up in the last few days before the harvest. We began picking on the 26th and brought in grapes that had potential alcohols in the 12.5 to 13% range, which is all we need. Not all wines were chaptalized and those that were had between .2 and .5% added. There was a lot of sorting work required though and I estimate the loss rate at between 25 and 30%. I did a normal vinification but when it came time to press, I decided to go with about as light a pressure as I could and still extract a bit of juice. Overall, I quite like the 2008 vintage because the wines are extremely fresh and energetic with plenty of fat supported by ripe tannins.

Tasting note: A ripe, earthy and reserved nose of cool dark berry fruit and humus leads to supple, round and relatively generous medium weight plus flavors that possess good power and fine complexity on the moderately austere and solidly lengthy finish.
This is not a particularly big example of the appellation and is actually relatively forward and accessible.
